CLEANX
quick-start.
Chain up to six clip effects — pitch, stutter, DJ FX, reverse — and render a flip or a clean edit fast.
6 steps · every control name is the real one · Repair / FX
Get audio in
Hit LOAD in the CLIP panel to pull a clip into the waveform view (or run CleanX as an insert — set I/O to INSERT in the footer and it processes the track in place). ▶ auditions, ⊕ / ⊖ zoom for tight selections, DRY plays the untouched clip. BPM follows the HOST in a DAW.
Build the CHAIN
Click + in CHAIN to add modules — up to 6 of PITCH, VELOCITY, DROP / RISER, STUTTER, DJ FX and REVERSE. Drag the module cards to reorder the signal path; each card's PWR button bypasses it in place, × removes it.
Repitch
In PITCH, set SEMITONES (±24) for the chipmunk or slowed sound and turn FORMANT on so the voice stays believable while shifted. CENTS under the ⋯ advanced menu fine-tunes a sample exactly into key.
Chop it up
In STUTTER, pick the division (1/4 – 1/32) and the number of REPEATS for tempo-synced beat-repeat. Under ⋯, GATE clips each hit for a choppier rhythm, ROLL ramps repeats faster for a classic build, and PITCH/REP walks the pitch per repeat.
DJ moves
In DJ FX, sweep CUTOFF to muffle and reopen, raise ECHO for a tempo-synced throw (ECHO TIME under ⋯), and flip on SCRATCH for turntable articulation. DROP / RISER gives you tape-stop DROPs and build-up RISERs with START and LENGTH placing the sweep; VELOCITY runs the clip at 1/4× – 4×.
Render and export
With AUTO on, CleanX re-renders after every change; otherwise hit RENDER. Use DELTA to hear only what changed and BYPASS for the honest A/B, then WAV in the CLIP panel exports the processed clip.
Pro moves
Once it's working.
- RADIO EDIT in the CLIP panel is one action per word — BLEEP, MUFFLE, GARBLE, TAPE STOP, REVERSE, STUTTER or SUB DROP with AMT; + WORD marks a word, SCAN finds them, PREVIEW auditions, and PROFILE picks the delivery standard.
- REVERSE in BY DIV mode flips each beat slice in place so the groove still runs forward — WHOLE reverses the entire selection.
- SAVE CHAIN keeps a chain you like as a preset; UNDO / REDO and the A / B slots cover the experiments. In Pro Tools, run CleanX as an AudioSuite render for offline processing.
