01

Pick the low FREQ

Under LOW FREQUENCY, choose the shelf frequency with the stepped FREQ selector (the classic bass points). Stepped controls mean every setting recalls exactly.

The trick

Turn BOOST and ATTEN up together. The curves interact — a resonant lift with a tightening dip just above it. That's the move every classic record used on kick and bass.

Lift the top

Under HIGH FREQUENCY, set the boost FREQ, raise BOOST, then open BANDWIDTH wide for sheen or narrow it for presence. The second FREQ / ATTEN pair is the high shelf cut.

Let the tube work

Even at flat settings the TUBE stage and iron colour the signal slightly — passing a mix bus through 'doing nothing' is a legitimate move. OUT trims the level for an honest BYPASS.

Pro moves

Once it's working.

  • Boost wide, cut narrow: the passive curves are broad by design — reach for EA-EQ when you need surgery.
  • The high ATTEN shelf tames a harsh top end while the BOOST bell lifts the air above it — run both.
